WALL BEING CONSTRUCTED
We could not hold off doing the wall. With the nice weather here, the children are constantly playing outside and riding bikes on the little patio. The thought of a child running into the wall and it crumbling down on them was very concerning. So - we hired our chief contractor - Vlady and our "first mate" Izamot. They are building the wall. The cost came in higher than anticipated. Full cost will be $1200. If you believe in safety for children an want to cover this cost - we will be delighted!
Remember, Izamot is from Jessica's Family. He is a great worker and we are so proud of him when he is sober! Working is one of the main encouragements for him. When he works, he can provide for his family.
And at Dayspring - they have puppies. And are they ever growing.
Then as well on Friday, we prepared and delivered training to 16 social workers at Social Services in Tokmok.
TRAINING WAS ON ATTACHMENT, SEPARATION
AND THE IMPACT ON CHILDREN GOING INTO AN ORPHANAGE
AS WELL...
CASTING THE VISION ONCE AGAIN
TOKMOK WITHOUT ORPHANS
BREAKING NEWS...
We got approval from the Mayor's Office (the mayor himself) to develop a pilot resource/foster care project. It will take some time to create the tools and set it up....but we expect within the next year and 1/2 we will have at least five foster homes in Tokmok.
FAMILIES FOR CHILDREN - NOT ORPHANAGES!
(This project has MAJOR implications....because it will be able to be replicated into the nearby areas as well. We see such hope for some of the children we are working with who are living in orphanges!)
Lynn working with group on the issues of helping children create a "safe" story when people ask about them.
After training it was off the the t-shirt factory to pick up a sample of our new bags. Thanks Ian - this is awesome! Cannot wait to show you the real thing!
Then it was to gather at Baltica with our children - from Dayspring and Jeremiah House. Time to get together and celebrate. Great night of fellowship and shashleke!
