TRAUMA INFORMED TRAINING OF TRAINERS

PHASE 1 OF THE SERIES - COMPLETED

TRAINING OF TRAINERS
BECOMING TRAUMA COMPETENT HEALING CAREGIVERS

Consider this - 67 participants representing over 20 countries from around the world...Pakistan Kenya, South Africa, Nigeria, Haiti, Dominican Republic, Ukaine, Russia, Kyrgyzstan, Bolivia, Laos, Cambodia, China, India, Nepal, Thailand, Indonesia, Mexico, Guatamala, Liberia, USA, Canada and likely more....

All together to learn how to work with a child who has suffered from Chronic Developmental Trauma.  Helping caregivers, parents, workers and leaders make a difference and become INTENTIONAL IN THEIR INTERVENTIONS....using strategies that truly help children heal.

This series was the brainstorm of Jayne Schooler, LAMb team member and was carried out with professional expertise by a team called Lamplighters -  from Shelter church in Dayton, Ohio.  The event was co-sponsored by Christian Alliance for Orphans (CAFO).

Next Phase is the Life Skills Training of Trainers - which is going to be held at the same place on June 26, 27, and 28, 2014.  Registration will be opening soon!  Watch for the details on this blog and on our trauma blog:

MIGHT NOT BE PRETTY RIGHT NOW - BUT JUST YOU WAIT - JEREMIAH HOUSE GETS SEWING ROOM

SEWING ROOM WILL BE READY SOON

LIFE SKILLS
FOR JEREMIAH KIDS

The youth at Jeremiah House and in Jeremiah project have a chance - a chance to learn, grow and develop and now we are ALMOST done with the sewing room for them.  It has been a long awaited project - little by little getting done.  Like many project - you think you have the final figures only to find you really needed about 1/3 more than planned... However ------ The furnace is going in now and we are so excited.

We leave for Kyrgyzstan the end of this month and let me tell you the THREAD WILL BE SPINNING on those sewing machines.

Ruby's mother is going over for the duration of the time Lynn and Ruby will be there - about four months.  She is 85 years young and will be working with the youth teaching them to use those sewing machines.

Then we have already obtained a commitment from Zamir (who is a resident from the men's home for disabled men) to come and teach national crafts.  Just imagine - the youth making things that represent their country - selling them to others - learning to budget their little endeavor and making spending money in the process.  "YES, A WORKMAN IS WORTHY OF THEIR WAGES...."

BUT THAT IS NOT ALL....get this
  • we will purchase fabric and teach simple seams
  • simple seams mean we can make sheets and pillow cases
  • sheets and pillow cases are desperately needed at the homes for the disabled (you remember the recent pictures!)
  • our dear friend Zamir teaches - he is from the disabled home
  • mother - an 85 year old woman teaches - she is the senior they work with
  • then the youth DELIVER THEIR FINISHED PROJECT TO THE DISABLED AND POTENTIALLY THE SENIORS - SERVING THOSE WE SERVE
So what are we teaching?
Life Skills
Serving
and
Just being a good citizen!

DID WE MENTION WE ARE VERY EXCITED?

THANK YOU SO MUCH DONORS.....you are making a difference in the lives of these youth.

LIFE SKILLS IN ACTION AT DAYSPRING IN KYRGYZSTAN

DAYSPRING - LIFE SKILLS IN ACTION

Watching the children at Dayspring and Jeremiah House learn Life Skills is more than exciting - it is the reason we have pursued these projects and feel the joy when we see youth finding success, love and purpose - it is our reason for continuing.

LAMb International is committed to equipping others and teaching the skills, knowledge and encouraging the commitment to serve families and youth to know who they are  - to know they have a purpose.  We see our family at Jeremiah House and Dayspring taking time, showing love and being the adult teacher to the youth and children in their care.  We are so proud of them and the way they have joined with these youth to make a family - and lead the way for others to do the same.

Both Jeremiah House and Dayspring are solid families - giving youth a strong understanding of what a family really is.

We are also getting ready to bring new youth to Jeremiah House - as graduation at Chui orphanage is soon to happen.  Some youth have some plans - most all have  hope, yet one boy - said - he has no hope, as he has not been permitted to study and he wants to do this.  Listen to the different dreams of some of the youth...in their own words:

"I want be a good wife and mother."

"I want my own house and have good family."

"My  best story with happy and at 2007 years I was at the hospital 3 days. At the hospital I met a  Lady This Lady every time take me at her house. And I am so happy that I can spent time at her house not at the orphanage  and eat normal home food. I am so happy this is dream of each orphan."

"I want live happy, I want marriage and have children.  I want be a programmer, I want to build the house for my mother and do for her all that she will want.  I dream give my children what that I haven’t now."

"I want to be a Happy."

"I  have big problem in my life. I am not like all children. I cant study , I can't work   May be anything can help me. My second dream study.  My third dream is : if anyone will present me a home.  I will be happy man."

We need your help - help us to help them - to be there for those we can.  As we develop strategies, teach and prepare those leaders to carry on - we need your help.  We must do what we can!  Yet, we cannot do this alone.
