THE LAMPS ARE LIGHTING UP FOR DAYSPRING

(Waiting for Dayspring to open - and find him a family!)

EXCITING TIMES!!!!
We have the word out and the response is amazing! Let's update! We have beds, bedding, desks all sponsored for the project! We have our first $100 per month sponsor for the ongoing expenses of the family home! There are individuals who are going to be hosting LAMPLIGHTER EVENINGS in their home to raise funds and awareness of the opportunity to make a difference in the country of Kyrgyzstan! We are on a roll. We praise God for this response.

Dayspring will be a pilot project to find permanent homes for children - an alternative to the orphanages where over 200 children can be living together in conditions that are known to hinder healthy growth and development. Today, we have an agreement to make a difference - this agreement is with the local and national authorities of Kyrgyzstan. Let's work together and find families for children! AND LIGHT THE LAMPS AT DAYSPRING!

HOW? become a LAMPLIGHTER
$100 per month, $50 per month, $25 per month or even $10 per month. We need 10 donors for each category.

OR: buy a stove, a refrigerator, a washer, a sofa, dishes, pans or another needed item for the home. Let us know what you would like to do and we will send you the prices for items to furnish Dayspring!

Renovations are underway as you can see! Thanks so much to all you LAMPLIGHTERS!

A CHANCE TO MAKE A DIFFERENCE IN KYRGYZSTAN

(The Dayspring Home, with our new foster family - Asel, Davina, Talant, and Melody.)

BREAKING NEWS - BREAKING NEWS - BREAKING NEWS -BREAKING NEWS

LAMb International opens Dayspring Family Life Resource Center in Tokmok, Kyrgyzstan!

Imagine for a moment, the trauma and fear of being dropped at an orphanage at the age of six—an ill-kept, cold, dark kind of place filled with people whom you do not know.

Imagine for a moment, the thoughts running through your innocent mind as you are ushered into a large room full of children sitting there staring at you. You are wondering if anyone will know where you are and will anyone ever come back for you.
Imagine for a moment sitting at a large table, surrounded by more children you have never seen, looking at a small bowl of something, wondering if this is all, will there be more and when?

You are now an orphan….and an orphanage is no place to grow up.

Yet, hundreds of children pass through the doors of the orphanages in Kyrgyzstan every year. They enter there with no preparation for separation from their family and no support for the flood of emotions that consume them. No one is talking to them about anything.

They are left to face an unknown future. NOW YOU HAVE A CHANCE TO MAKE A DIFFERENCE IN KYRGYZSTAN! We are opening the first family foster home as a pilot project that is positioned to do the following:
1. Receive up to 10 children who will never see the doors of an orphanage.
2. Children will be met and loved by caring and loving foster parents - Asel and Talant.
3. Immediately our Child Advocate will begin working with the families of the children to work toward reunification where possible.
4. Immediately our Life Skill Specialist will begin teaching the children life skills which will help them grow and develop to becoming a wonderful young adult.
5. Where children cannot be reunited with their families an adoptive family will be sought.
6. We will work with churches to find adoptive families for children who are eligible for adoption.
7. Training for our church partner and for parents of our children in care.
8. Training for local and national government workers on child welfare best practice areas, such as assessment, child abuse and neglect, parenting capacity, recruitment of resource families and parenting skills.
9. AND SO MUCH MORE....

HOW DID THIS HAPPEN?
We have several partners - HOH of California who have generously donated the funds for the purchase of the home and for the renovations. Institute of Human Services, from Ohio for generous support and provision of training materials and publications. Mercy Foundation, from Kyrgyzstan for the opening of doors in various places. The government of Kyrgyzstan for agreeing that this project is potentially system changing and working with us to create a signed agreement of partnership. The church Cryam Bojay for agreeing to be our partner in this project, taking leadership for helping children and families of the Dayspring project.

These partners stepped up to the plate and said - Let's do this! We, LAMb International are moving forward, have purchased the home and are RIGHT NOW IN THE process of renovations.

NEXT, WE NEED YOU DESPERATELY:
1. Complete the furnishing of the home.
2. Monthly support to pay staff, care for the home and needs of the children.

HERE IS HOW YOU CAN HELP.....BECOME A LAMPLIGHTER!

We need 10 people who can help us at $100 per month.
We need 10 people who can help us at $50 per month.

MATCH WEEK FOR OUR WRIGHT PARTNERS

Our dear friends, John and Julie Wright have taken a step of faith and responded to God's call to return to Krygyzstan on a longer basis. Julie took an unpaid leave of absence for a year as the family, with no visible means of support, plans to return in August.

This week is an important fund raising week for them. They have a donor that will match any funds raised in the next seven days. We are hoping that this week's gifts will send them on their way.

To see and hear their incredible heart and to take part of match week - go to

Thanks so much for checking AND DONATING TO THEM

MORE GOOD NEWS

Today I travelled to a number of our projects, stopping by to leave some fruit and let the folks know we still care. Our first stop was in Iskra, at the Home for Disabled men. There are about 260 adult men in a residence that is under great improvement. Under the supervision of a new director, I have seen renovations started and ongoing, new mattresses and the men encouraged to paint and wallpaper as they continue to improve their living conditions. I saw their new library, which still needs more book shelves, a new common room, which still needs furniture and a TV, a newly renovation washroom and halls that have been painted and wallpapered. Of course there is still a great deal to do. They need additional furniture, floor coverings, clothing, bedding paint and wallpaper. Today we left 11 cases of peaches, four cases of plums and 10 gallons of raspberries. I wish you could have seen the smiles.

Another stop was at the seniors home in Kemin. They now have 17 in residence, that's up from 12. Again, we left peaches, plums and raspberries. Lots of smiles. Tanya, the director, is doing a great job. Their surroundings are now quite satisfactory and they are looking for more crafts, like paint by number kits, and yarn. Tanya's main concern is for the fall when it starts to cool down because the price of coal has increased dramatically. I told her we would be back in late September and by then I believe we will have one or more donors who will supply their need for winter coal.

Also you will see in the one picture a supply of aspirin, tylenol and vitamins that I will be delivering on Sunday to the group of men from Somalia that are 'captive' in the transit zone of the Moscow airport. Thanks John and Christa.

And thanks to each of you who are continually faithful in supporting these outreaches. If you would like to help provide these resources, simply use the Canada Helps button and select the area where you would like to share. Thanks.
