KYRGYZSTAN WITHOUT ORPHANS
Today I went with a report to the Mayor's office, because I was invited to the round table that took place in the Mayor's office. The topic was "Abuse in the families" and how to prevent. So there were several organizations present, and the vice mayor.

The meeting itself was great. The Red Cross people organized it, I was there from LAMb, then there was a lady from Training centre in Bishkek, and another lady from the women's rights association, so all of us had a word to say.

I presented what we do here in Kyrgyzstan, not only in the sense of our projects with kids, but I shared our training potential also. Talking about the abuse, I spoke about the factors that influence the families, and why abuse may accure, and how we all together can help the families.

I really like this new vice Mayor, he was saying very good things, and I felt that he was speaking with an understanding, he was listening to all of us very attentive. At the and he had a word, and talking to him we all came to conclusion that we can prevent something, only if all of us will work together, helping families, each other, sharing the information we all have and our resourses.

So he asked if we could agree to have this kind of meetings every month, and he will be present, for the next meeting we decided to prepare the information we have, what kind of trainings LAMb/ILDC could do, we all mentioned the problem of lack of education, that kids are not taught at schools any morality and skills, so I got a thought about our life skills.  Maybe we could in future teach them in schools somehow.

What was also nice to hear from him (the vice mayor), that they already began to fix that building we looked at when Lynn was here, for the homeless people, he said that the city will fully restore it, but he asked the present organizations and LAMb/ILDC to help with furniture.

And the end I talked to him personaly, and he mentioned that he would like to be our guest at the end of December, just to learn more about us at Dayspring.

GREAT JOB OLGA!!!  WE ARE SO PROUD OF YOU!
