TRANSITION TIME

For over two years now, Acel and Talant have been our Resource Family for Dayspring.  For more than a year in the beginning - there were no children in Dayspring, but that changed last Fall, with the arrival of our first child.  Since then we have received six little girls into the family.  

Acel and Talant parented these children from the day they started arriving.  They have nurtured them, loved them and essentially made a difference in their lives - bringing safety and security.  When they decided it was now time to focus on their family, it was a difficult moment for all.  What could we do for the children at Dayspring?  How would we best serve the children with them leaving.  It was through these questions that Costa and Olga came into the picture.

We worked with Costa and Olga for four years - know them well and love them dearly.  We asked the question - and they responded eagerly with a YES!  They arrived into Tokmok just over a week ago.  During the past week, it has been a carefully orchestrated transition.  We have had meetings, dinners, parties, and even an overnight retreat.  All this was to help the children get to know the new Resource Family and to see the connection between the families.  On Friday - Costa and Olga officially became our Resource Family.  And on Saturday we finalized our transition with a time with the children all together to give everyone a chance to see we are all still connected.

Acel and Talent are staying in Tokmok for one year - as Talant said, this is to be a bridge for the children.  Starting in September, they will spend one weekend a month with the children and of course be visiting from time to time as well.  

For each of you - our supporters - please pray for this new Resource Family.  They have lots of ideas, lots of hopes and dreams.  Olga and Costa had a family meeting with the children on Sunday - they created a schedule together.  Seven little girls - each girl gets a day to be mother's helper (building life skills), on Thursday evening, there will be a family Bible Study, on Sunday evening - they will have Family Meetings.  

Teaching, nurturing and growing our little girls continues.

UPDATE UPDATE - SURGERY COVERED

YES, the surgery was covered and now a GO!  This little 4 year old will have his life saving heart surgery.  We thank you for your prayers and we thank our donor!

WE WEIGHED THE OPTIONS...

SHE TOLD THE STORY...

So how would  you feel when you have only designated funds in your bank account and someone tells you there is a little boy - 4 years old that just said, "I am going to die because I cannot go to the hospital?"  AND IT ONLY TAKES $267  more than what was paid already to go to the hospital and have the life saving surgery.

Yesterday we were invited out to dinner with Valady and his wife Dr. Tatiana - both of them servants of God who help us imensely.  Dr. Tatiana goes to the senior home for us and checks in on the seniors, has gone to Dayspring and checked in on Dasha and is always asking how she can help us.  Vlady does repairs for us in some of the most dire conditions, visits our dear friends at the dump and serves with a generous heart.

Having dinner tonight was at their request and something we really have looked forward to.  Within  about 5 minutes of sitting down, Dr. Tatiana said she too was looking forward to this evening.  Yet one hour before she closed her office, a woman came and told her the story:

She has a 4 year old son who desperately needs life saving surgery on his heart.  She has sold everything (even her cell phone link to everyone) possible to raise the needed almost $4000 for the surgery - yet she was short $267.  She had visited every church, every friend and family member.  She has asked strangers to help.  She paid the hospital all but the $267 and the  hospital refused to do the surgery without full payment.  She was desperate and her son knew the desperation, and would tell people, " I am going to die because I cannot go to the hospital."

Dr. Tatiana said this was so depressing for her.  She did not know what to do, so she called the Doctor in charge of the surgery.  And she was given the same answer - "We will do the surgery ONLY when she has ALL the money."  The mother was desperate and feeling hopeless and worthless.

What do you do?  We have tied up designated funds!  There are rules and punishments for doing it wrong.  Somewhere there needed to be another pocket with something in it....Oh Lord let it be.  Dig, weight the options.  We did.

HOPE AND DIGNITY FOR ISKA MEN

ALMOZ

We are leaving tomorrow for Lake Isakul.  We will have with us all the Dayspring children, all our Kyrgyzstan staff and their families.  It is our overnight staff team building retreat.  But we encountered one BIG PROBLEM in taking our team to the Lake overnight.  We would be leaving Dayspring house unattended and be leaving a big dog without someone to care for her.  This is the new dog to Dayspring - a big fluffy one - brought to Dayspring by the new family - Costa and Olga.  

However, quickly a solution was found.  Hiring two men from Iskra Home for Disabled Men - to come and stay overnight at Dayspring keeping the dog and the house cared for.  Might see simple to you reading, but remember these are men who have essentially been deemed as incompetent and cast away.  Over the years we have seen just the opposite.  

In fact as we speak, Eldar is off at a camp where he was invited to preach everyday while there.  He is truly our resident prayer warrior and mighty man of God.

Two other strong and competent men are Almoz and Zamir.  Both men have agreed to come to Dayspring and stay overnight - guarding the property and dog.  What a blessing to us to be able to hire them for this task and know we have left all in good hands.
