WOUNDED PEOPLE NEED HEALING TO LEAD WOUNDED PEOPLE

Healing and Serving

We all have a story and a journey.  Some of our work  -  called to teach and share -  has taken us to some of the deepest hurting places in the world, deep into the hearts of wounded people.  Cambodia, still reeling from the Khmer Rouge regime and the killing fields - and the ongoing exploitation of children.  In India the crowded cities, homelessness and poverty that prevails - exposing many to pain and suffering.

We find persons who cannot forgive, holding onto the past and not being able to walk in the fullness of joy and peace - and the fullness of a life of well-being.  We hear stories of how some who work with wounded children have great difficulty due to the reminder of their own childhood and that no one protected them and kept them safe.

Here in India over the last weeks, many such stories were told and shared - journeys of caregivers - reaching deep into their own pain to find solace and peace - wanting to help children, but also wanting help themselves.  We cried, prayed and just listened over and over again.  We saw tears, heard hearts and enjoyed the laughter coming from those who are serving vulnerable and exploited children and youth and have stories.

One young woman grieves her lost childhood, another young person commits to bringing others off the street, another hugs his children and says they will never face these issues again.  One orphanage director pleads for us to come and teach all his staff, caregivers and church family members about the impact of trauma.

Oh how difficult this all is.  Our hearts break over and over again, yet we also have hope.

"As a result of this training, I will do things so differently in the future," says one woman from Mumbai who works with those rescued from the sex trade.

"We needed hundreds of people here," says another woman from Kolkata.  Going on to say, "we have 80 sites and everyone of them should have been here."

Yes, India is hurting - trauma is cutting away at the core of the helpers and those in their care.  With gentle hearts and strong determination they continue to go forth.  So we journey with them  - to bring healing to the wounded....so they can lead the little children to a life of safety and well-being.  We are called to activate and equip and the journey will continue as we are called to share and serve.

Join us in the journey - support the work - encourage a hurting person - adopt a child.  There is much you can do.

Her name is JOYCE and she is already in love with the children.  Tonya (the previous owner) was concerned that Joyce would be nervous and afraid by the move, but she wasn't. She really enjoyes the children and felt very much at home in her new barn.  They thought she would be traumatized in the move to her new adoptive home – but not the case as the children made her feel right at home and then proceeded to have a JOYCE PARTY.

They had a cake and everything TO CELEBRATE THEIR NEW ARRIVAL.

PERFECTION - NOT TO BE COMPLETED IN THIS LIFE TIME

IF ONLY I WERE PERFECT

Perfection is a dream - but we can dream to be perfect, do our best. We will never be completely perfect, just getting better and better each day. Our past has directed our today - but it does not equal our tomorrow. Keep on keeping on, the journey has bright days ahead.
TODAY TRAVELING TO INDIA - Trauma Informed Training - three cities: Vijayawada, Mumbai, and Kolkata. Trauma impacts so many - orphanism can dig deep into the heart of many of us many of our family. Let's all work tirelessly to bring health, well-being and healing to those around us who suffer from the orphan spirit.
The behavior and words of the wounded we hear are often from the trauma they are still living. Let our words and behaviors in return not retaliate with hatred or meanness, but with love....finding the perfect words and behaviors to bring hope and healing to the broken hearts around us.

Youth Moving Forward - Success Step by Step

DaySpring and Jeremiah House
Life Skill Success

ANOTHER LIFE SKILL
RELATIONSHIPS

Genia's birthday gift - Rocky -
ANOTHER LIFE SKILL
RESPONSIBILITY

Each day during the summer months the youth at Jeremiah House and DaySpring have had opportunities to learn and grow.  Most recently we had a great week of cooking for the JH boys.

Since there was a youth camp where several of our DS and JH youth were going to attend and the parents wanted to go as well – we had a need.

Who would support and oversee the boys still staying home to work their jobs?  Step in Sondra!

Opportunity?  Let’s teach the boys to cook.  So each day was a new cooking lesson!
ü     Omelets
ü     Stuffed Cabbage Roles
ü     Spaghetti and Meatballs, ETc.
And then later – with cooking in her veins – she worked with the staff and girls at DS and did a batch of peaches and placed them in jars – ready for winter.

NEXT?  Sondra is readying the Eagles Nest Farm and will be using this as a learning/teaching program.
