DAY TRIP FOR DAYSPRING - PICKING BERRIES IN THE MOUNTAINS

VLADY TOOK THE DAYSPRING FAMILY TO THE MOUNTAINS TODAY!!!
They picked berries, met a family with two children, ended up being invited to their home for tea and later cooked dinner together on the open fire.  The hospitality of the Kyrgyz people is amazing.  What a joy to see the Dayspring children experience their culture in such a way.

Each experience is helping the little girls better understand what it is like to live in a healthy family, how to interact with others in a positive way - and of  course most importantly - how to serve others.

THANK YOU VLADY, COSTA AND OLGA

SCHOOLERS COMMITMENT TO MAKING A DIFFERENCE

TRAINING - TRAINING - TRAINING
DID WE SAY TRAINING?

WE HAVE AN AMAZING SCHEDULE FOR THEIR TIME IN KYRGYZSTAN

David and Jayne have been diligently working to strengthen their own skills and knowledge in the area of Trauma.  Jayne has authored a book on the topic and both of them have not only been training across the United States on the topic, they have been studying and building their own skills - most recently having attended a comprehensive training offered by Karen Purvis (an expert on the topic) in Texas.

Beginning September 4th, David and Jayne will be following a rigorous schedule we set for them (hope they speak to us when they return) in Kyrgyzstan.

  • SOS - Children's Villages - 9 days of training.  They will do three different sessions.  Session 1 with adolescent workers; Session 2 with house mothers and aides; and Session 3 with the psychologists.
  • Karakul Orphanage - 3 days of training.  This small orphanage - which is 6 hours away from our home base in Kyrgyzstan will be the focus of this training for their child and youth care workers.
  • Tokmok - 2 days of training all our staff and workers in the area of Trauma.
So what is this training?

Children who have suffered trauma in their lives are often left with serious challenges from the impact of the trauma. In addition, parents and/or caregivers sometimes have little to no understanding how to help the child work through these difficult challenges.  Our new Trauma series, will address this - will offer:
UNDERSTANDING
KNOWLEDGE
SKILLS

and most importantly HOPE!

LAMb Team is awesome - committed and fully focused on -  (MAD) Making a Difference in all they do and say.  Thank you supporters who helped support this work in Kyrgyzstan that David and Jayne will be doing in September.  Their travel expenses were fully covered as are the costs for the training to be done there!  YOU ARE AN AWESOME SUPPORT TEAM!!!!

Committed to working together for

TRUST AND OBEY..."WHY DO WE NEED TO BE CONSTANTLY REMINDED?"

TANYA

LARISSA

SERVING THE ELDERLY

CONNECTING CHILDREN WHO LIVE APART

Each and every day we work through questions – sometime problems are part of the question.  How often we attempt to “fix” the question or problem.  Yet again and again we are reminded that we have a Father in Heaven who cares deeply for us and for those we work with.  He is the best one to resolve questions and problems.

Such was the case with the recent “question” we had for the travel of Larissa and Tanya to Alaska for their training at Hope.  We saw the question – how to cover over $5000 of costs with just airfare, over $300 for visa’s, and travel funds for them – so they don’t head off with noting in their pocket.  How do we help them carry on with the many different projects they have once they are gone for three months?  Who will ensure Larissa’s mother is cared for?  How will they manage the travel – landing in JFK, on to Minneapolis and then finally on to Anchorage?  Will they be able to check their baggage all the way – transfer from airport to airport terminal, on and on.  Yet – today we are breathing in praise and thanksgiving for all.

1.     The flight costs have been fully covered/promised.
2.     John and Julie will be in Kyrgyzstan on the 25th and they will walk Larissa through the entire process of travel.  John will travel to the airport in Bishkek to ensure there are no problems at the airport there – get them checked in and ensure their luggage is tagged all the way to Anchorage.
3.     We gave them suitcases when we were there last month.
4.     The visa’s are in their passports – and paid for of course.
5.     They will have spending funds to carry with them….we deposited those funds today.
6.     Arrangements were made by Larissa for caring for her mother.
7.     The many projects will be “guarded” by our staff and team on the ground in Kyrgyzstan….Costa, Olga, Madlin, Zukrah and of course Jayne and David arrive on September 4th – John and Julie will be there starting August 25th.  Lynn will be in Kyrgyzstan in October – COVERED!  Our TEAM will do their best to ensure the elderly, the disabled and the children whom Larissa and Tanya help will be visited and supported in their absence.

Someone said one time to us…”God’s Will, God’s Bill.”  Sounded kinda rude at the time, but once again we have been reminded, “Where He directs, He provides!”

THANK YOU ALL FOR YOUR SUPPORT – AS YOU TOO ARE PART OF THE TEAM SUPPORTING THE ELDERLY, THE DISABLED, AND THE CHILDREN OF KYRGYZSTAN!

REACHING MILESTONES - ONE CHILD AT A TIME

DASHA'S BIRTHDAY DINNER
The Dayspring family dinner was at a pizza restaurant - very special for the children at Dayspring - thanks donors! They were so thrilled to go out to a restaurant.

Dasha in the middle - our guest of honor - the birthday girl!

Then a little time in the park!

And back home for the birthday celebration - cake and all with Papa Costa!

Our little girls, Mark and our special visitors - Emina, Melody and Devina - sisters visiting for the birthday.  Dasha's face tell the story well.

And one very VERY SPECIAL GUEST - Mom!
Yes, Dasha's mother came for her birthday.
BEAUTIFUL FAMILY PHOTO

Dayspring is beginning to see the milestones it hopes for  - permanence for children - permanence with family.  Only this week Dayspring was instrumental in helping one of our little girls reunite with her family.  Yulia is now home and will continue to be a part of Dayspring - with visits from our team, her coming to Dayspring to visit the girls and to attend school with the girls - at the School of Blessing.

Our team is working hard to bring permanence to children - families not orphanages.  Dayspring is a pilot program to work with crisis families, divert children from the orphanages and to work with each child and where possible family to find that permanent safe family for each of them.

In just over one week, David and Jayne Schooler will be in Kyrgyzstan working with our team - teaching them in the area of Trauma.  The impact of trauma on a child is sometimes overwhelming not only for the child, but for the caregiver as well.  We want our staff well trained and ready to help in all possible ways.  David and Jayne will not only be training our team, they will be working with two of our other partners; SOS Children's Villages in Bishkek and an Orphanage in Karakol we are working with.

With John and Julie arriving next week, Schoolers following - we will have a strong support team on the ground to move our work forward.  John and Julie are focused on Humanatarian Aide, Schoolers on training and development.  WHAT A TEAM!

GRADUATING ORPHANS - JEREMIAH PROJECT A REALITY

BREAKING NEWS!!!!BREAKING NEWS!!!!

JEREMIAH HOUSE HAS BEEN FUNDED

Jenia was a success story that could have gone bad.  Yet, after graduation - support from the LAMb team brought this young man to a place of interdependence and family connections.  Jeremiah Project is designed to help others find the same success!

BREAKING NEWS -----  As most of you know - we have been moving toward opening our new project to help graduating orphans.  Look at this!

1.  We have rented an office/center for Jeremiah Drop In Center (see below the mission for this part of Jeremiah Project).  This center is now being furnished and is operational at this time.

2.  We HAVE JUST RECEIVED WORD THAT WE NOW HAVE THE FUNDS - on the way to purchase the JEREMIAH HOUSE! (see below for the mission for this part of the Jeremiah Project).  We will be purchasing this home just as soon as the funds are transferred!  We expect to be operational with the residential home soon.

3.  AND we are not stopping there - NEXT is Jeremiah Steps! (see below for the mission for this part of the Jeremiah Project)

All our Kyrgyzstan staff are thrilled and ready to begin MAKING A DIFFERENCE ONE YOUTH AT A TIME!

Project Model

PREMISE:  KYRGYZSTANI Youth are ageing out of the orphanages and are being forced into situations of poverty, homelessness and crime.  Statistics for success are dim – as only 1/3 of the youth graduating from an orphanage find success as an adult.  The other 2/3 end up trafficked for sex trade, into drugs and alcohol, found having committed suicide or end up in prisons.  Most youth are NEVER heard from again once they leave an orphanage.  This situation must be addressed and Jeremiah PROJECT is one small effort in helping youth who have been in an orphanage and/or part of our work while we have been working in Kyrgyzstan - to be supported in those vulnerable years after orphanage graduation.  Since most youth are graduated at grade nine from the orphanage, they are too young to move successfully into adulthood.  We want to be there for those we can.  Therefore we have developed a project – called JEREMIAH PROJECT.

Jeremiah Project is an umbrella program to several other Jeremiah branches or strategies to help youth graduating from the orphanage;
Jeremiah Drop In Center,
Jeremiah House and
Jeremiah Steps.

With each project there is a distinct mission statement and activities that support the Vision of LAMb International Jeremiah Project.

Vision – Jeremiah Project:  It is the vision of LAMb International that graduating orphans from Kyrgyzstan become successful contributing members of society.    We envision the youth having strong moral values, a living relationship with Jesus Christ and a desire to serve others just as they have been served.

Mission of Jeremiah Project:  The LAMb Team commit to developing a pilot project where we can demonstrate strategies, programs and activities which help youth become successful and achieve the vision of Jeremiah Project.  We will work with community leadership, churches, government offices and other NGO’s to further this project beyond the size and scope of just Jeremiah Project.

We see the project as a demonstration of what can be done to help youth through those vulnerable years after orphanage graduation.

Mission of Jeremiah Drop In Center:  The drop in center is a non-residential center which provides assessment, training, counseling and referral resources for youth from orphanages who have graduated or will soon be graduating from the orphanage and are in need of supportive services.  Jeremiah Drop In Center will offer crisis counseling, emergency support where available, referral services, and in extreme cases the center will offer crisis overnight supervised housing (when available).

Mission of Jeremiah House:  LAMb International will work to meet the needs of graduating orphaned youth placed into the Jeremiah program, assessed to be ready and needing placement at Jeremiah House, a structured and supervised residential center for graduating youth.  LAMb will work to ensure youth are safe, nurtured and protected as they seek solutions of education and permanency for each youth.  Each graduating orphaned youth will find permanency in the program and will be guided to interdependent living through the teaching of critical Life Skills.

This mission will be accomplished by ensuring full assessment, Individual Development Plans, Life Skill training and building connection strategies are utilized from the day of placement and will continue until the permanency/independent living goal is achieved and implemented.

LAMb is committed to proving the most family like, community based, relationship focused program possible.  The foundation of the program will be to introduce and build upon a relationship with Jesus Christ, thus ensuring each youth is given an opportunity for spiritual development as they move toward independence.

Mission of Jeremiah Steps:   To provide hope and dignity to institutionalized youth by helping them achieve independent living by “practicing” independence in Jeremiah Steps apartments.

Through assessment from Jeremiah Drop In Center or Jeremiah House, youth will be identified who are able to function in a less restrictive environment than the more structured Jeremiah House.  These youth will be re-integrated successfully into community based living where they will live interdependently.

Structure will be provided in the Jeremiah Steps apartments and youth will be guided to continue moving toward self-regulation.  Jeremiah Steps will guide youth to housing, resources and adult living separate from the resources of Jeremiah Project and Jeremiah Steps.

URGENT FOR TWO PEOPLE WHO MAKE A DIFFERENCE

MAD
MONEY IS ALWAYS SPOKEN ABOUT AS
 MAKING A DIFFERENCE
FOR LAMb International

LARISSA AND TANYA NEED TO BE IN ALASKA ON SEPTEMBER 1, 2012 FOR THEIR TRAINING TO BEGIN.

Today we are beginning to be concerned about getting the funds for the tickets for Larissa and Tanya for their training time in Alaska.  We have received $500 for the trip so far.  The tickets for each of them is over $2500 each.  Their lodging, training and expenses once on the ground in Alaska are all covered.  YET, we need about $4500 to complete the deal.   Taking this from the LAMb account puts our balance at ZERO...we will do this - but we believe there is someone out there who knows of the work of Larissa and Tanya who want ot help.

Consider this a request - a direct plea for help.  We need some MAD funds for Making a Difference in Kyrgyzstan - as Larissa and Tanya return to work with the disabled, elderly and children with new and more effective skills than ever before.

LET'S  MAKE  A DIFFERENCE

ONE DAY CLOSER TO A WORLD WITHOUT ORPHANS: AUGUST 6th

A WORLD WITHOUT ORPHANS
INVOLVED OR COMMITTED?

We had a great day at Kempenfest today.  The day started cloudy, then the rain came, then it POURED, then it dried out and THEN the wind picked up as the incoming high started pushing out the low.   Time to get extra tent pegs and rope and anchor things down.

Nonetheless, the LAMb team was fabulous, meeting, greeting and sharing. Nothing like a bit of adversity to bring out the grit.

We have one more day at our site.  Please drop by and chat. We still have children [orphans] that need sponsors.  If you can attend please contact us to see how you can be involved.  We need 16 more sponsors at this time!  $50.00 per child brings help into their lives.

Every we time sit down for a breakfast of bacon and eggs I'm reminded: the chicken was involved BUT the pig was committed.  Where is your heart with respect to widows, orphans, the disabled? Involved? Committed?  A WORLD WITHOUT ORPHANS?  COMMITTED?

A very special thanks to Ian and Arlene whose commitment has been above and beyond.  That's not to slight any of the other LAMb 'committed', but the tenacity of these two is awesome.

Thanks to all of you who have helped make LAMb a testimony to the Lord.

Some pics from today.
the LAMb team.

Lots of beautiful crafts.

A GREAT LAMb Team Duo - Bryan and Jenni

Another LAMb dynamic - just missed his duo today!

Counting the pieces in the URT...this little one was so thrilled to get this and learn about the needs of the orphans.

KEMPENFEST: August 4th

With an expected attendance of around 300,000, Kempenfest is a huge display area for original arts and crafts.
The LAMb team worked hard at getting the booth set up despite the very hot temperatures.  During the day we had lots of drop ins and many good conversations.

Today, Aug 5th, promises to be a bit cooler with a bit of rain in the forecast.

Don't miss your opportunity to chat with those who have hands on experience In Kyrgyzstan working with the disabled, orphans, seniors and many others.

YOU can make a difference.  With just a little effort and a personal commitment to take a step to help those less fortunate. One child, one family, one village, one town.  YOU can make a difference, together we can make an impact.

Here are a few pictures from yesterday.

Come join us either today or tomorrow on the south side of Kempenfelt bay in Barrie Ontario. Or simply contact us for information on how you can sponsor a child.

This weekend, August 4,5,6th, KEMPENFEST

You're invited.   Come join us at our display at KEMPENFEST, on Barrie's waterfront.
Meet some of the people working with the orphans, elderly and homeless in Kyrgyzstan, Ukraine and Nicaragua.  People who have a heart and a passion to see a World Without Orphans.

Also you will have a chance to buy some of the crafts that have been made by the children in the orphanages.  By the way, half of the purchase price of these items goes directly to the child who made it.

We would love to meet with you and chat. In Barrie, just north of Toronto, Canada.

We also have a number of children that are in need of sponsorship. Less than the price of one coffee a day will supply many of the needs for a child. You don't have to be here to sponsor a child. Just click the button on the side or send us an email if you have questions.  lambinternational@gmail.com

thank you
The LAMb Team
