UPDATE ON DAYSPRING AND JEREMIAH HOUSE

CAPACITY DEVELOPMENT FOR KYRGYZSTAN
DEVELOPING PILOTS TO MODEL THE POSSIBILITIES

Dayspring is full - Jeremiah House will have two youth joining us in June and that leaves only one place for a girl.  So - you can say Jeremiah House is ALMOST full.  What does this mean?  WE ARE MOVING FORWARD and are now looking at developing and opening the next step = Morning Star - a home for little boys.  A diversionary program to demonstrate children do not need to go to orphanages - they can go to families.

As we move forward to help our city work with families, see that youth CAN be diverted to families - not orphanages and see that we can work together to provide services for older youth - graduating from orphanages - helping them develop and practice critical LIFE SKILLS.  Well, if only we could bring even more into Dayspring and Jeremiah Project...yet for these children - now 13 in total - soon to be 15, it means the difference of potential success to almost predictable loss and failure in the adult world.  And 10 more little boys once Morning Star is opened.

THE REALITIES...

The statistics are grim.  Out of the graduating youth from orphanage from the former Soviet Union - only 1/3 of the youth are successful.  The other 2/3 end up in prison, suiciding, murdered, trafficked for the sex trade, in prostitution and/or addicted to drugs and/or alcohol.

If we are going to be helping and not hurting - we need to DO SOMETHING!  We cannot just show up and say we are sorry - we need to act - to the best of our ability.  If every NGO would take action - develop plans and steps to make a difference - not just "flip out dollars" we would see a great difference in the global orphan crisis.

I read Greg Montella's facebook and consider him a model of excellence in helping and not hurting with the work he is doing in Moldova.  I read about the work of Kimberly Smith in Darfur and understand the actions and sacrifices she and her husband made to help the "Lost Children" of Sudan/Darfur. HELPING AND NOT HURTING!

I watch the work of our team in Ukraine - working tirelessly to bring critical skills and knowledge to those who work daily with crisis families and children who have experienced trauma and my heart is overjoyed with how they are helping.  HELPING AND NOT HURTING!

I witness the many hours that our team members Jayne and David put into preparing for helping those in crisis - having experienced trauma personally or vicariously through their children's journey.  I have seen the years of dedication from Ed Dickson, serving the orphan - bringing team after team into the orphan world to educate the team members and build a network of support for change, help and well-being of the most vulnerable.  I have been blessed to have Manny from Samaritans Feet as a friend to our family - watching him commit to putting shoes on the feet of one million children - and bringing Jesus into their lives.   I watch our team member Pastor Glen Pitts travel to Nicaragua month after month and work with pastors - discipling them - those from villages - where most would not want to go or even care about.  Oh I could go on and on.  ALL HELPING AND NOT HURTING!

Ruslan, Roman, Alex, Andre, Luba, Nickolai all in Ukraine - heros working toward a WORLD WITHOUT ORPHANS.

Judy, Ron and the team - dedicated to bringing the best of the best in training and materials to those who cannot afford it or ever believe they might receive such gifts.

It goes on and on.  We MUST WORK TOGETHER - WE MUST STEP UP AND TAKE A STAND.  James 1:27 says that "..religion that is acceptable to God......is to care for the orphan and widow in their time of distress....."

WE CANNOT REMAIN SILENT - HEAD TO YOUR CHILDREN'S AID SOCIETY, YOUR CHILD WELFARE AGENCY AND LET THEM KNOW THAT YOU HAVE HEARD THE CALL!
