MOVING FORWARD
OUR TRAINER FROM BISHKEK
In Kyrgyzstan, more children are placed into institutions because of being born with a disability than are kept at home with their families. Through our time of service in Kyrgyzstan, we have come to realize that families that have their children with them have little to no services to help them know and understand how to work with such developmental disabilities.
HOWEVER THERE IS HOPE
And we are talking about Hope Alaska - that has given the LAMb team the vision to do something different...to offer services, find trainers and do what we can to help these families keep their children at home. We initiated a project called Discovery Project after our team of Larisa and Tanya returned from training in Alaska. This project is to help the disabled in different ways - training is one.
THE DAYSPRING TRAINING ROOM SET UP FOR THE FIRST DAY
Our team - led by Olga Litveninko our Residential Director in Kyrgyzstan, found a trainer in Bishkek that is a professional in giving therapeutic massages to children with disabilities - most specifically children with Cerebral Palsy.
SEVEN MOMS ATTENDED THE TRAINING
20 Moms were identified in the Tokmok area of having children who need massage. This is an expensive service - they need to take their child to Bishkek - an hour away to get this. There are costs involved as well leaving many moms unable to have this therapy for their child. However, by learning how to give massage - they can do this at home...with their child and for their child.
MOMS MET FOR TWO DAYS - AND GAINED MORE THAN TRAINING
RELATIONSHIP BUILDING AND SUPPORT SYSTEMS
DELICIOUS MEALS AND SNACKS EACH DAY
We were able to provide snacks and a wonderful lunch each day for the moms.
They loved being together and having the time to share and talk to one another.

CERTIFICATES WERE ISSUED
They are now certified to give this massage to their babies! Praise Him for this.
NOW, LET ME TELL YOU THE REST OF THE STORY.
Olga organized this training and we did not know it was going to have some major costs. We needed to pay the trainer for each participant - as there was equipment she would need to bring, etc. We had transportation, meals and snacks. Olga had set the training up not understanding the entire costs and emailed me. At that moment we did not have funds we could set aside for this, but told her to go ahead as we too know it has been within our vision and goals.
Well, as God has this wonderful way of letting you know He is in control. After sending her the email to proceed, we received an email from Canada Helps - YOU HAVE A DONATION! GET IT?
BINGO - TRAINING COVERED JUST LIKE THAT.
AND GUESS WHAT - THESE BABIES ARE MORE LIKELY TO STAY IN THEIR FAMILIES THAN BEFORE. MOM'S ARE GOING TO MEET REGULARLY - SEE THE GROWTH IN OUR DISCOVERY PROJECT?
