AZIZ GRADUATES

WE ARE SO PLEASED!  AZIZ HAS GRADUATED FROM HIS FINAL GRADES OF SCHOOL.  HE HAS SUCCESSFULLY COMPLETED GRADE 11.  THE GRADUATION IS A GREAT SUCCESS FOR THIS YOUNG MAN WHO HAS COME FROM A HARD PLACE. 

HE WILL NOW BE LIVING WITH HIS BROTHERS IN BISHKEK AND CONSIDERING A UNIVERSITY TO ATTEND.  WE ARE VERY PROUD OF HIM!

TWO NEW RESIDENTS

ON THE WAY to JEREMIAH HOUSE

We will be receiving two new residents into Jeremiah House from Chui Orphanage.  We are following the students at both Chui and Red River Orphansge - where they will go, with whom and who needs a place to live - therefore we have two young girls that need our help with Jeremiah House. 

DAYSPRING UPDATE

Summer time is sometimes really hot in Kyrgyzstsan - we just got word that it was 50 C in Tokmok recently.  Oh my....so that means staying indoors or finding a place to cool down.  There is a large lake in Kyrgyzstan - but it is hours away.  So an alternative is a large pond that was build by a developer in a place he has named Hawaii.  (not quite the same as the real Hawaii!).  So this week, our Dayspring family took off for the pond and had a wonderful day.  

Experiences like this just do not happen to children in the orphanages, we are blessed to have Dayspring to bring hope and joy to these little girls.  Their stories are so hard - so sad, yet we see them growing and changing.  

We are hoping to send them to a Christian Summer Camp this next month.  This will be a place of normalcy, a place to play, laugh and just be children.  We cannot do this without your help.  You send the resources for all we do.  AND WE THANK YOU.  Dayspring little girls are growing into lovely youth women and with each one - we are working hard to bring families into their lives - forever families that will love and cherish them for the treasure they are.

We have reunited 8 children over the last two years.  We attribute this to the diligent work of our team - Costa, Olga, Lubov, Zukrah and Gulnara.  Praise Him for Dayspring, Jeremiah House and YOU!

Finally - please pray for help here with this need...

Our van is really not safe anymore.  We need to get a new Van for Dayspring.  We will sell this one and use the profits to help purchase the next one.  With between $5,000 and $6,000 more we can purchase a newer - YET still older - VW van for the girls and resolve this need.  Please pray with us for this provision.  Summer time is not an easy time to raise funds for a need like this.

DAYSPRING - URGENT NEED - AN APPEAL FROM LAMB

Dayspring Van – TOAST

Well, it has finally caused us the final amount of trouble.  

This VW van is 23 years old (1991) and has served Dayspring well.  We MUST replace this as soon as possible to ensure we are keeping our little girls safe.  When we were there we broke down on the highway and that was not fun – yet the weather was good and our wait and final tow was okay.

ANOTHER BREAKDOWN - TRANSMISSION GONE OUT

 

But we cannot take the chance any longer.  We just had the transmission go.  It is in the repair shop, but we must look for a replacement.  Here is the plan – it can become a workhorse for someone who is a mechanic/carpenter.  We will sell it and likely be able to get around $3,000 for it.  Then we will take the funds and purchase a better van – which will cost about $9,000. Hmmmm – a little short  fall there!

When mother taught the youth at Jeremiah House to sew - she taught them to make some great items, little did we know what the result would be. The youth were given choices to be involved and interestingly enough, it was the boys that wanted to learn the most.  

After mom returned home to Arizona - the sewing did not stop at Jeremiah House.  We have LOTS OF ITEMS FOR SALE NOW - with sales we are helping the youth to purchase more materials, and give you a beautiful Kyrgyz item that represents all that an orphan experiences and can have when someone cares  - really cares.  Youth are given 1/2 of the profits. 1/2 goes to purchase new fabric and the other goes to them.   Out of their 1/2; .......2/3 goes into a savings account in their name and 1/3 goes into their pocket!

Yes, these youth feel worth and value.  They know they are loved and respected.  AND THEY HAVE LEARNED A SKILL!  Let's help our transitioning youth in their move toward adulthood.

THE SMILE ON ALTANAI'S FACE SAYS IT ALL

REUNIFICATION - #8!

Sometimes when a youth is in the orphanage - all work towards reunification stops. Such was the case with Altanai.  She came to Jeremiah House and we discovered she had an Aunt that cared about her very much.  Her Aunt is a social worker in another town and has been in touch with her niece and has worked to get her moved in with her.

It has happened.  REUNIFICATION  with family.  This is now the 8th child that our team has been able to get back home to their family!  ALL CHILDREN DESERVE A FAMILY and sometimes it just takes hard work to find then, reconnect with them and help then work through the piles of documents to make this happen.

Today we are rejoicing to know that this young gal is with her Aunt - given a new chance to grow up with someone that wants her, loves her and calls her family!

JEREMIAH PROJECT HAS A NEW TEAM MEMBER

We are so excited to announce the newest team member for JEREMIAH PROJECT her name is Tanya. She is a former missionary to Africa, lives in Tokmok, Kyrgyzstan. She has just returned from the mission field. She will be working with ALL our Jeremiah youth.

One of her major responsibilities will be to follow all the kids who leave the local orphanages, keeing track of them and being prepared to mentor and coach them. She will work closely with staff member Katya in our Life Skill project, teaching and training youth and preparing them for interdependent living.

In addition, she will work with the grade 8 and 9 students from the two large state orphanages....connecting them with family, caring adults and helping develop a good plan for their graduation from the orphanage. Youth graduate at grade 9 from the ohanage and are often "lost" to the streets.

HOLE IN THE WALL FOR BABIES

You never know who you have in training....and I got the most incredible surprise in Pretoria, South Africa. Cheryl Allen, founder of HOLE IN THE WALL FOR BABIES, AND DOOR OF HOPE which started in 1999 in Johannesburg, South Africa. Since that time, they have had .700 babies adopted. Then.....I got to visit her baby homes and see her collection box for abandoned babies. I posted about this yesterday as well.

With the orphan crisis around the world, our prayer is that you all find it in your hearts to do SOMETHING.

Our (LAMb's) call is to make ourselves available for sharing the need, training and helping equip those who take up the call, and be the voice to carry the message for Orphans and Vulnerable Children.

This organization receives volunteers. If you are interested in helping DOOR OF HOPE, let us know and we will connect you.

BABIES BEING RESCUED....BOX FOR BABIES

CHERYL ALLEN....founder of this amazing rescue of babies. Over 700 babies have found adoption from DOOR OF HOPE since starting in 1999. I was so shocked to have her in my training. Learning she was with us was one of my highlights of our ministry time. I was thrilled to be able to actually go to the baby box location and see the baby homes.

When a mother abandons a baby, there is another option in this African city! DOOR OF HOPE receives babies instead of mothers abandoning them......to trash cans, ditches or.....

Babies are put in the box from the street. There is an alarm that notifies them when a baby arrives.

Babies are being abandoned all over the city of Johannasburg, South Africa. We had the honor of visiting this amazing rescue program!

THE IMPACT on ONE or EVEN TWENTY!

The picture tells a story that presents hope.  Twenty children graduating from an orphange near Tokmok.
Historically, we could expect to 'lose' about 13 of these children to drugs, alcohol, trafficking, suicide, prison. Historically we have seen the excitement of graduation turn into the harsh realities of no jobs, no education and no hope for a successful future. Children falling into the slim of society for lack of Life Skills and someone that cares.
We have been working hard during the last year or so to change the statistics. Katya has been teaching these students from our LIFE SKILLS program during the last year.  One 90 minute lesson each week and the kids 'love' coming to the classes. Helping equip them to meet the challenges of their new world.
We have profiles of each of these students: their hopes and dreams.  We will do our best to track them and support them whenever and wherever possible. Our current Jeremiah House, houses only 8 graduating orphans - 4 boys and 4 girls.  It has been running at capacity.
One child at a time: one future, one hope, one success.
